xsuji

Dear CAPA-BC Families,

We are thrilled to announce the launch of the CAPA-BC High School Tutor Volunteering Program, an excellent opportunity for our high school students to make a positive impact by sharing their knowledge and supporting fellow students in need. This initiative aims to create a service platform for CAPA-BC high schoolers with the skills and passion to help underrepresented students achieve their academic goals.

Why Volunteer as a High School Tutor?

  • Make a Difference: Help others overcome educational barriers and make a lasting impact on someone else's life!

  • Develop Skills: Gain valuable leadership, communication, organization, and teaching experience.

  • Build Community: Strengthen our sense of community by fostering positive relationships with others.

How You Can Help: Sign up for our volunteer tutoring program and spread the word among your friends and classmates who may be interested. All service hours accrued through this program will be credited to your volunteering hours for CAPA-BC. This longterm project surely will help you to build up an impressive volunteering record!

Current Opportunities: CAPA-BC has partnered with the Latino Education Advancement Foundation (LEAF) to provide after-school tutoring for young students in Grades 2-3. We are looking for high school students to participate in an online small group setting (4-5 students), with 1-2 sessions per week focusing on Math, English/Language Arts.

Application Process: To apply, please complete the online application form (link https://forms.office.com/r/cAt12RSpLJ), where you can provide details about your availability, subjects of expertise, and motivation to participate. To be considered, you need to be a 9th grader or above and have earned an unweighted GPA of 3.0 or above.

All high schoolers in the CAPA-BC community are invited to apply. Students from paid member families will have higher priority for consideration. We encourage families to sign up for CAPA-BC membership and become a paid member today!

Once your application is received and reviewed, the CAPA-BC Tutor Program will conduct an interview via Zoom to learn more about you and answer any questions you might have. Upon selection, CAPA-BC will provide necessary tutoring training facilitated by an experienced public school teacher during the onboarding process. Coaching services will also be available to support our tutors along the way!

Contact Us: If you have any questions or need more information, please reach out to Suji Xie at xsuji@capabc.org or 443-570-5758 (leave a message).

Thank you for your commitment to fostering a supportive educational community within CAPA-BC!

Best regards,

CAPA-BC Tutor Volunteering Program
